Too much watering can cause the plant's root system to suffocate and drown. Brunnings Perlite, when mixed in the soil, forms spaces to allow water to freely move through the root system and improves aeration and moisture retention. When Perlite is added, roots draw as much water as they require without unintentional drowning.
 
Perlite is a natural, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, neutral volcanic rock which has been heat treated at a high temperature to produce an extremely ligtweight material with a high surface area. It is ideal for use when propagating cuttings, sowing seeds, or as a hydroponic growing medium. Perlite also provides excellent aeration and drainage while still ensuring good water retention.
