A long flowering perennial plant forming clumps of grass-like, long leaves.  In spring and early summer it produces pale blue to purple, iris-like flowers.  Prefers semi-shade but tolerates a sunny position.  Grows well in sandy, clay and clay-foam soils.  Ideal for rockeries, general landscaping and containers.  Keep moist in dry weather.
