Tufting, evergreen, perennial with striking, purplish-black grass-like foliage.  Tiny lilac flowers in summer are followed by black berries.  Excellent foliage contrast and for borders and garden edges, under trees, around pools or in containers.  Easily grown in moist, well drained soil in morning sun or dappled shade.  Keep moist during dry weather.  Tolerates frost, and full sun as long as the soil is moist.
