An evergreen perennial plant forming clumps of grass-like, dark green leaves.  In late summer it produces upright spikes of rounded, bell-shaped, dark purple flowers.  Widely used in landscaping, liriopes make an ideal groundcover and are suitable for planting between pavers, or for rockeries, containers and borders.  Thrives in a partly shaded position in moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates light frost and periods of dryness.  May be left undistrubed to form clumps or divide in autumn.  Apply fertiliser in autumn and spring.
