Succulents with foliage arranged in neat, compact, stemless rosettes, or with rosettes that develop at the top of long stalks. Star-shaped pink, white or red flowers appear from the centres of the rosettes.

Prefers well-drained, sandy soil or free-draining potting mixes. Provide a warm sheltered position and protect from frost. Stemmed varieties can be pruned back after flowering.
